Police Discover Suburban Meth Lab
WAUCONDA, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A northwest suburban man faces multiple charges after police discovered a possible explosive device and a methamphetamine lab Monday in his Wauconda home.
Bruce W. Keener Jr. has been charged with unlawful participation of methamphetamine production, aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm during unlawful meth production, aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm during the unlawful meth production, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and unlawful possession of drug equipment, according to a release from Wauconda police.
Kenner is expected in bond court Tuesday.
Wauconda police were investigating possible drug activity when they discovered what appeared to be an explosive device in Kenner's apartment at 720 E. Liberty St. about 3 p.m. Monday, according to a release from Wauconda police.
Police evacuated residents and closed surrounding roads.
The Wauconda Fire Department Bomb Squad removed the device and determined it posed no threat, nor was it an explosive device, the release said.
The Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team was also called to investigate a suspected meth production operation. Several containers related to producing meth were recovered.
The incident remains under investigation.
