Charges Pending In Uptown Beating
Victim Suffered 'Extremely Severe' Injuries
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
Charges are pending for a man who allegedly beat another man in an Uptown neighborhood alley early Tuesday, leaving him with "extremely severe" injuries.
The incident occurred about 12:10 a.m. in an alley at 4940 N. Winthrop Ave. The two men, who know each other, began fighting, according to Lincoln District police Sgt. Rapa.
After the fight, the injured man went home but later lost consciousness and had to be transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was in critical condition with "extremely severe" injuries, the sergeant said.
The two were unarmed and used their hands and feet in the fight, according to Rapa, who did not know why the men were in the alley.
There was a witness to the incident and police knew who to arrest because the victim apparently told officers who was responsible.
Charges are pending against the suspect in the beating, who was not hospitalized, according to the sergeant, who said no charges have been filed as of 7:10 a.m.
