Plane Lands In Chicago, Several Passengers Sick

CHICAGO (CBS) ― A plane packed with passengers is forced to make an emergency landing after some people fell ill.

CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports that United Airlines flight 167 from Boston to Los Angeles landed at O'Hare Airport after about a dozen people reported being sick with flu-like symptoms.

Emergency vehicles and ambulances raced to the tarmac to treat those sick passengers. Four were transported to the hospital, but all are reported to be in fair condition.

A source tells CBS 2 that all of those who felt ill are believed to be members of the same tour group and one passenger reported feeling sick prior to takeoff.

A United Airlines spokesperson said no food was served on the plane and this does not appear to be an aircraft problem either. The UA spokesperson says that safety is the airline's top priority and he believes the pilot did the right thing by making the decision to land in Chicago to treat those sick passengers.
