Reward Increased In Search For Tinley Park Killer
Community Holds Prayer Vigil For 5 Victims Of Feb. 2 Murders
TINLEY PARK, Ill. (CBS) ―
An increase in the reward money was announced Friday for tips in the deadly Lane Bryant murders in Tinley Park.
Two months ago, five women were killed and, one wounded when a gunman opened fire inside the store.
CBS 2's Pamela Jones police, church leaders and community members are pausing Friday evening to remember the victims of the Feb. 2 shootings.
They want to keep this case fresh in the mind of the public as police continue to search for the suspect.
Police announced an increased reward for information in the case, up to close to $100,000. It headlines the composite sketch police believe resembles the man they're looking for.
Police say they've looked into more than 2,000 leads in the case, but they still need people who think they've seen the suspect to come forward.
"We are fairly convinced that somebody knows who this individual is," said Tinley Park Police Department Cmdr. Rick Bruno. "Somebody may have some suspicions. Maybe the voice in connection with the mug shot or the composite drawing will help to jar somebody's memory."
Police say the suspect may have shaved his head by now or changed his appearance in other ways, but they're sure someone had to see him the way he looked back in February.
The faith community has reportedly been instrumental in the investigation, with pastors encouraging the suspect to seek spiritual help first if that's what they're comfortable with, and then surrender peacefully.
