Teenager Shot On South Side

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― A 17-year-old boy was shot in the chest Friday evening on the South Side.

Police responded to a shooting in the 4700 block of South Michigan Avenue about 5:56 p.m., according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

A shooter came up to the teen, fired shots and fled on foot, Mirabelli said.

Emergency crews responded to the shooting and found a 17-year-old shot in the chest, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said.

Langford said paramedics took the male teenager to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in "stable" condition.
