Guilty Plea In Assault Of Teen Met Through MySpace

CHICAGO (STNG) ― A 17-year-old boy pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of criminal sexual assault stemming from a case involving the rape of a 14-year-old he and two others met through MySpace.com.

The boy, whose name was not released because his case was adjudicated in Juvenile Court, will be sentenced May 22, said Tandra Simonton, spokeswoman for the Cook County State's Attorney.

The boy was 15 years old when he was arrested in 2006. Also arrested were Angel Alverio, who was then 18, and Tony Pacheco, then 17. Alverio and Pacheco's cases are pending.

Prosecutors said the three made contact with the girl through MySpace, a social networking Web site, and arranged a July 24, 2006 meeting. The three took her to the 15-year-old boy's home in the 4800 block of West Walton, according to court records.

There, the group drank alcohol. The girl became sick, and then the teens sexually assaulted her multiple times, prosecutors said.
