A Round Lake Beach mother is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old boy.
Now Laura Bailey, 47, is facing charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Stephen Scheller said Bailey was brought into custody Tuesday after admitting to engaging in sex with the teenager on multiple occasions during September.
Authorities were notified of the relationship when rumors surfaced that Bailey was having sex with students who attended one of the Grayslake high schools.
Students thought to be involved with Bailey denied those allegations, Scheller said.
During the course of that investigation, the identity of another teenage boy believed to be having sex with Bailey was uncovered. Police then found out Bailey had sex with a 16-year-old boy who had been an acquaintance of her family.
Scheller said the two had sex in a parking lot just off Illinois Route 83 in Round Lake Beach and another time at Bailey's home.
Authorities say those are the only known instances when the woman and teenager had sex.
Police are investigating the possibility of other victims, Scheller said.
Bailey was released on $25,000 bond Wednesday night, but faces seven years behind bars if convicted.
