Cab Crashes Into Loop Building During Rush Hour
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
Two taxicabs collided at a Loop intersection during rush hour Tuesday night causing one cab to strike a light pole and crash into a building.
No people were injured in the accident.
About 6:40 p.m., a Yellow Company taxicab and a city services taxicab crashed into each other at West Washington and North Wells streets, according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
The taxicabs were "demolished," Langford said.
After the collision, the Yellow taxicab struck a light pole and than crashed through the window of a Hertz Rent A Car location, Langford said.
The Hertz Rent A Car location is at 181 W. Washington St., according to the company's Web site.
The building, which is on the southeast corner, did not sustain any structural damage, but Hertz's glass window was shattered, Langford said. The light pole was sheared, and was taken down.
The taxicab drivers both refused treatment, Langford said.
