Stretch Your Dollar: Find Deals At Thrift Stores

Thrift store shopping can help you stretch your clothing budget.

In the midst of the economic downturn, business is booming at thrift stores where sales are up by as much as 35 percent in 2008. CBS 2's Anne State checked out a couple to see just how much you can stretch your dollar.
At Plato's Closet you can find everything from jeans to shoes to accessories, and you'll pay less.
Electra Laontis has been shopping there for three years.
"It has name brands for less expensive," she said.
Plato's Closet focuses on labels popular with those aged from 12 to 26, with prices are about 70 percent off retail.
"A pair of Abercrombie jeans that would go for $60 dollars , we can price at $20," Tammy Toron of Plato's Closet said.
If you've got something to sell that's gently used and still fashionable, bring it in.
"We pay cash on the spot for items we are interested in," Toron said.
Another place to stop in is Unique Thrift Shop. Unique buys donated goods from charities and sells clothing, toys and household goods. Low prices are even lower on sale days—Mondays and Thursdays.
"They are going to get a bargain, compared to another store, a name brank store you are going to get it a lot cheaper," a Unique spokesperson said.
