Cosmetology schools offer salon services at a cheaper price.

Everybody wants to look good, but going to a salon can be expensive. We found an alternative - it's just another way to "stretch your dollar." CBS 2's Anne State reports that what looks like a salon in Evanston is really a school.
Alfie Williams says she gets her hair washed, dried and flat-ironed here for $25. A haircut alone is just $11. At the Pivot Point Academy in Evanston, students give facials for $35 and pedicures for $18.
"It's like taking an adult field trip for the day to get pampered and the prices are really awesome, so it really makes it worth it," said Joy Murawski.
But you need to be patient. Some customers say the students can be a little slow. One client says she was nervous having a student do her hair, but teachers are there to supervise. So far, so good.
"Honestly I would come even if I had money just because it's a great deal," William said. "I don't see why I would waste money."
