Woman Dead, 4 Hurt in Stone Park Stabbings, Crash
STONE PARK, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A southwestern Illinois woman is dead after a vehicle struck her when a fight at a west suburban Stone Park nightclub spilled into the street.
Three people were stabbed -- including the woman killed -- and two other people were hit by the vehicle, authorities said.
Galissa Brown, of southwestern Sheridan, Ill., was struck by a vehicle at North Manheim Road and West Lake Street and was pronounced dead at 2:05 a.m. Thursday at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. A Saturday autopsy determined Brown died of multiple injuries from an automobile striking a pedestrian and the death was ruled an accident, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
Shortly after midnight Thursday, emergency personnel responded to reports of a fight at the Nitro Nightclub Inc. at 3815 W. Lake St., Stone Park Fire Department Lt. Chris Soda said.
"We encountered multiple incidents," according to Soda, who said a fight inside the club moved outside, where three people were stabbed and two people were struck by a hit-and-run vehicle.
"Every couple of minutes it was something else," Soda said.
Brown and another female pedestrian were struck by a vehicle traveling west on Lake Street, according to a Stone Park police release. The other woman was treated and released from Loyola Medical Center.
Police are looking for an older-model Chevrolet Caprice and several witnesses and persons of interest have been interviewed, the release said.
Three males were also taken to Loyola Medical Center in critical condition, according to Soda, who did not know their ages.
Stone Park police had no information on the stabbing and would not confirm if the stabbing and hit-and-run were related.
Seven towns assisted Stone Park, and seven ambulances were sent to the scene.
