Skeletal Remains Found At Stickney Plant
STICKNEY (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
The remains of a fully clothed male body were found near a water processing plant in west suburban Stickney Thursday evening.
The skeletal remains were discovered behind a berm on Metropolitan Water Reclamation District grounds by landscapers cleaning up a brushy area near South Central Avenue and West 39th Street in Stickney, reclamation district public affairs manager Jill Horist said.
The fully clothed skeleton was found in a "relatively isolated area" and appeared to have been there "a long time," Horist said, noting the body was located near a building housing a waste digester.
The skeletal remains belong to a man of an unknown age and were found at 6601 S. Pershing Rd. in Stickney and were pronounced dead on the scene at 8 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
An examination of the remains is scheduled for later Friday.
The Cook County Sheriff's police are investigating but were not immediately available for comment.
