Steve Dahl Leaves JACK-FM Radio

CHICAGO (CBS) ― Chicago radio legend Steve Dahl has left  JACK-FM radio after just over a year.

Dahl said goodbye to fans on WJMK-FM 104.3, said Friday morning at the end of this show.

Dahl joined the station in November of last year, after several years at the former WCKG-FM 105.9, which he left when it changed formats and became WCFS.

Dahl became a local legend with Garry Meier in the late 1970s through the early 1990s. One of his most famous stunts came in 1979, when he invited listeners to bring their disco records to be destroyed at a White Sox game. After Dahl blew up the records, fans stormed the field and a game had to be called off.

In the Chicago Sun-Times Thursday, media columnist Lewis Lazare said rumors had been swirling about Dahl's departure from JACK-FM, but CBS Radio marketing manager Rod Zimmerman had declined to comment on it.

Both JACK-FM and CBS 2 are owned by the CBS Corporation.
