No Visitation Agreement For Stebic Kids
Lisa Stebic's Parents, Craig Stebic At Impasse
JOLIET, Ill. (STNG) ―
Lisa Stebic's parents will have to wait a little longer to see their grandkids.
Lawyers for both sides of a grandparent visitation case said Tuesday in Will County Circuit Court they have not reached an agreement on visits with the Stebic children.
"I was looking forward to hopefully a settlement today," said Judge Robert Brumund. He set the case for a hearing on July 3.
"I know about the time constraints here, I know everybody's concerned about doing something in this case and getting it done quickly," Brumund said. "I look forward to a settlement on this case. If not, let's put it to bed."
Both sides say they are hopeful they will settle the case before July 3.
Lisa Stebic was 37 when she disappeared from her Plainfield home April 30, 2007. That summer, police named her husband Craig Stebic a "person of interest" in her disappearance. He has not been charged in connection with the case.
Lisa's parents and grandparents Lawrence and Judith Ruttenberg and Milton and Charlotte Ruttenberg claim Craig has unreasonably denied them visits with his kids. They filed a petition for grandparent visitation in November.
Craig's lawyer Dion Davi said Craig had offered visits that would be supervised by him, which the Ruttenbergs declined.
After about six months of legal wrangling, Davi offered a confidential settlement proposal.
The terms of the visitation agreement are confidential, Davi said. If an agreement is reached, the terms may remain private.
