4 Women Charged In Man's Stabbing Death

Man's Body Was Found In Alley Over The Weekend

CHICAGO (CBS) ― Bond was denied Monday for four women charged in the stabbing death of a man in the South Side's East Chatham neighborhood over the weekend.

Tiffany Cox, 25, of the 8200 block of South Drexel Avenue; Carmelita Hall, 25, of the 8100 block of South Drexel; Roslind Ball, 23, of the 1000 block of East 79th Street; and Miesha Nelson, 25, of the 7900 block of South Wabash Avenue were charged with one count each of first degree murder for the fatal stabbing of man in the 8100 block of South Drexel Avenue, according to police News Affairs.

A judge denied bond for all four defendants in Violence Court (Br. 66) at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse.

About 2 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a call of women chasing a man with knives. Blood spots were found on snow and pavement outside a South Side home and led police to the body of a man who had been stabbed to death, News Affairs said.

Morris Wilson, 30, of the 500 block of E. 80th St., was pronounced dead on the scene at 8147 S. Drexel Ave., the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said. An autopsy performed Sunday determined he died of multiple stab and incised wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

Earlier in the evening, all of the four women defendants and the male victim were together at Cox's apartment , having a party together when the victim and Nelson started arguing, according to Cook County state's attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin.

The victim was told to leave, and a shoving match ensued. He threw a bottle at the door when he left, and the ladies felt they were being "disrespected," Conklin said.

Nelson told her co-offenders they needed to beat him up; she grabbed a knife from the kitchen and passed it to Hall. The conflict led to a nearby courtyard on Drexel Avenue, and the victim was beaten and stabbed repeatedly, Conklin said. Witnesses saw the attack, he said.

Soon after, police arrived and followed a trail of blood to Cox's apartment, according to Conklin.

Police placed several possible suspects in custody on the scene, according to News Affairs.

The assistant state's attorney's notes for the case did not mention a broken cigarette that some published reports said was blamed for starting the fight.
