Marcus Hughes Was Wanted For Misdemeanor Pot Possession
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A man was charged with misdemeanor drug possession Thursday after being struck by a squad car while trying to avoid arrest Wednesday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.
Marcus Hughes, 28, of the 4200 block of West Fillmore Street, was charged with misdemeanor possession of cannabis, according to police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.
The incident happened Wednesday in the 4400 block of West Madison Street at 2:12 p.m., according to News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
Police were in the process of making a narcotics arrest when the 28-year-old fled on foot, Zala said. During the course of a foot chase, he ran out in front of a responding squad car and was struck.
He did not suffer injuries and refused medical treatment.
Hughes has a Dec. 2 court hearing scheduled, Perez said. He was not charged with evading police.
