CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
An altercation on a South Side street early Sunday which may have been gang-related ended in the fatal shooting of one of the two young men involved.
The incident happened about 12:30 a.m. on the 7100 block of South Paulina Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer. The 17-year-old victim had gotten into an altercation with another man, who took out a handgun and shot the other man in the face before fleeing the scene.
A Cook County Medical Examiner's office spokesman identified the man as Odero Hillard, who lived at 5424 S. Marshfield Ave.
Hillard was dead on the scene, Greer said.
No one was in custody as of about 4:50 a.m. The shooting may be gang-related, police said.
