53-Year-Old Man Gunned Down On South Side Street

CHICAGO (STNG) ― A 53-year-old man was fatally shot in the head on the South Side in the Burnside neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

Calvin Porter was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 3:35 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
The man was fatally shot on the street in the 9300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue about 3 p.m., News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

Police say two unknown offenders approached the man and shot him in the head.

Fire Media Affairs Assistant Director Eve Rodriguez said the victim was initially taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.

A motive was not clear Thursday night.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
