3 Illinois Men Dead After Snowmobile Crashes

TAMPICO, Ill. (AP) ― Three Illinois men have died after snowmobile accidents over the weekend.

Whiteside County authorities say a 33-year-old Scott Forward of Tampico was pronounced dead at a medical center in Sterling a short time after the Saturday night accident.

Deputies were called to the scene of the snowmobile crash just outside the Tampico village limits shortly before midnight.

Authorities confirm that a Kane County man died today from injuries he received from a snowmobile accident on Sunday. Officials say 32-year-old Matthew Vandenborn of Virgil Township was legally drunk and had suffered massive head injuries.

Fire officials in the Chicago suburb of Fox Lake say a man died over the weekend when his snowmobile plunged through ice and into icy lake water. Firefighters identified him as 38-year-old Mark Turkula of Lakemoor.
