4 Dead In Overnight City Violence
Homicides On South, Northwest, And Southwest Sides
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
Gun violence took the lives of four men overnight, in the Albany Park and North Austin neighborhoods, and wounded two other people -- among them a woman accompanying one of the men.

Tracking Summer Shootings In Chicago In the incident in the Far West Side's North Austin neighborhood, a 19-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were shot about 11:05 p.m. on the 1700 block of North Linder Avenue, according to a report from the police First Deputy Superintendent's office.
The woman heard gunfire and discovered she and the man had been shot, the report said.
The man, identified as Benny Lynch, of 1642 N. Lotus Ave., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:05 a.m.
The woman suffered a gunshot wound to one of her feet and was taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, in good condition.
Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
Later in the Northwest Side's Albany Park neighborhood, a man was found fatally shot and slumped over the steering wheel of his car, police said.
The unidentified man, believed to be in his 20s, was found by police about 1:20 a.m. with multiple gunshot wounds at 3042 W. Montrose Ave., police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.
The man was pronounced dead at the Stein Institute at 4:05 a.m., a Cook County Medical Examiner's office spokesman said.
In the Southwest Side's Ashburn neighborhood, about 1:40 a.m. a 44-year-old man, Johnny Dudley, was found shot to death at 7224 S. Sacramento Ave. Dudley, of 7143 S. Whipple St., was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 2:30 a.m.
The medical examiner's office said Dudley suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Kubiak said at least one of those gunshot wounds was to the head.
A suspect has been arrested in the deadly stabbing of a 25-year-old man in the Northwest Side's Palmer Square neighborhood.
Brendan Scanlon, of the 2800 block of West Palmer Street, was found with multiple stab wounds to the chest at 3032 W. Palmer Blvd. about 2:40 a.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
As of later Saturday morning an adult offender was in custody, but no charges had yet been filed.
Earlier Friday night, a 39-year-old man was shot in the arm during an attempted armed robbery in the 7800 block of South Racine Avenue.
About 8:10 p.m., the victim suffered a gunshot wound to one arm, according to a report from the police First Deputy Superintendent's office.
The victim was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where his condition was stable. Police did not have any additional information as of early Saturday.
Wentworth, Calumet and Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
