Juvenile Charged For Murdering 13-Year-Old

CHICAGO (STNG) ― A 15-year-old has been charged with murder for fatally shooting a 13-year-old boy in a Southeast Side grocery store on Oct. 1, police said.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with one count of first-degree murder early Sunday, according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.

The teen is set to appear in Cook County Juvenile Court, 1100 S. Hamilton Ave., Monday, Kubiak said. The boy's identity is not being released because he is a juvenile.

Sameere Conn and a 27-year-old man were both shot inside Hook Finer Foods in the 2500 block of East 106th Street when a gunman outside the store opened fire through a front glass window.

Conn was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital where he later died. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a gunshot wound to his foot.

Police said after the shootings that Conn and the man were not believed to be in the store together, but it was not clear whether either of them was the intended target. The incident was possibly gang-related, Calumet Area detectives said.
