15-Year-Old Boy Shot, Wounded In Rogers Park
Victim Hospitalized In Critical Condition
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A 15-year-old boy was critically wounded Thursday night during an argument in the North Side's Rogers Park neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 7 p.m. in the 7300 block of North Damen Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Gabrielle Lesniak.
A Rogers Park District police lieutenant said responding officers found the 15-year-old boy lying on the street with two gunshot wounds to the back. The teen was shot in his "lower back hip area" Lesniak said.
He was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening, but he remained hospitalized early Friday, police said.
Police found a witness on the scene, but that person was initially not being cooperative with officers. Detectives continue to interview him early Friday, police said.
The shooting may have been the result of an argument on the street.
Belmont Area detectives are investigating, but the shooter is not in custody early Friday.
