2 Children, 2 Adults Rescued In Rogers Park Fire

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― Firefighters rescued two children and two adults from a burning apartment building Sunday morning in the Far North Side's Rogers Park neighborhood.

Emergency crews responded to a fire in a three-story apartment building at 7516 N. Ridge Blvd. about 5:45 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.

The first firefighters on the scene saw heavy fire and immediately rescued two adults and two children from the burning building, Langford said.

All four people were taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in "stable" condition with minor smoke inhalation, Langford said.

Other residents of the building had self-evacuated before firefighters arrived and there were no other reports of injuries.

The building sustained "substantial damage" from the fire, according to Langford.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation Sunday morning and it was not immediately clear where in the building the fire started.
