Man Charged In Salerno Accident Goes to Court

CHICAGO (CBS) ― The man charged in the snowmobile crash that killed CBS 2 News anchor Randy Salerno is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Scott Hirschey is charged with homicide by "intoxicated use of a vehicle" in the death of his friend.

A criminal complaint says Hirschey's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit four hours after the crash.

He initially refused to perform an alcohol breath test.

Hirschey is still recovering from his injuries and will not appear in-person Monday, instead he will participate in the hearing by phone.
