Chicago Police Dept.
A man was charged for allegedly pushing his 80-year-old wheelchair-bound mother to the ground and robbing her early Friday on the West Side, police said.
Randy Suggs, 54, of 1110 N. Parkside Ave., was arrested at 11:10 a.m. Friday and charged with felony robbery, according to police. The charge was approved at 4:35 p.m. Friday.
The incident occurred at 12:30 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of North Long Avenue, where his wheelchair-bound mother lives. Suggs spent most of Thursday at his mother's home and left with his brother early Friday. He then told his brother he forgot something inside and went back to her home, according to the report.
The mother said she heard someone enter the home, and saw her son Randy in the bedroom with a blanket on his head to cover his face. She asked him why he was doing this and he allegedly pushed her to the ground and said "Give me the money or I'm gonna hurt you," according to the report.
He then allegedly took $67 from her clothing and fled through the front door, according to the report.
The woman told police she was too afraid to contact police, instead waited until her other son came home. The other son went with officers to Randy Suggs' home, where he was arrested.
