Man Found Dead By Tracks Victim Of Hit-And-Run

Police Probe Death On Union Pacific Tracks

CHICAGO (STNG) ― A man found dead on train tracks in the Garfield Park neighborhood Wednesday morning was apparently struck by a vehicle, police said.

Estrada Cervando, 59, was found dead in the 4200 block of West Ferdinand St., a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

Cervando, of 1639 N. Kedvale Ave., was pronounced dead at 6:15 a.m., the spokesman said.

Police are investigating the incident as a hit-and-run that happened in the 400 block of North Pulaski Road about 6 a.m., police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti said. No further details were available.

Metra trains were delayed Wednesday morning when police discovered the body on the tracks.

Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
