Doctor Can't Testify in R. Kelly Child Porn Case

CHICAGO (AP) ― A Chicago judge says prosecutors can't call a doctor to testify at R. Kelly's upcoming child pornography trial about why a girl in the case would deny she's the victim.

The R&B superstar faces charges he videotaped himself having sex with an underage girl. Prosecutors claim they know the identity of the girl. But the girl's denials that she's in the recording could undermine their case.
Prosecutors want the pediatrician to testify about how such denials aren't uncommon for child-abuse victims.

But Judge Vincent Gaughan denied that request today. He made a similar ruling last year.

The defense says there's no Illinois precedent for letting someone question a witness's credibility in such a way.

Kelly appeared at the brief hearing today. His trial has been delayed for five years. But it's now set to start May 9.
