Car Claims Way Up After Winter of Potholes
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
If you've had to take your car in for repairs because of the potholes lately, you're not alone. Damage claims are way up.
The Chicago city clerk reports more than 1,300 claims this winter. Last year there were fewer than 500.
Repair crews say they've filled in more than 100,000 potholes more than double the previous winter.
The city typically pays about half the cost of repair claims.
The theory: it's partially your fault for not driving around the pothole.
