Police Seek 3 Men Who Tried To Kidnap Boy
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
Police issued a community alert Monday regarding three men who attempted to abduct a 14-year-old boy Friday afternoon in the Southwest Side Mount Greenwood neighborhood.
The attempted kidnapping happened about 3:15 p.m. in the 10700 block of South Hamlin Avenue when three white men in a dark brown minivan drove alongside the boy and parked their car, according to an alert from Calumet Area detectives.
A back-seat passenger got out of the car and ordered the boy into the minivan, at which time he ran home, the alert said. That offender then returned to the car and they drove away.
All three offenders were 17-19 years old, according to the alert. The passenger who got out was wearing a blue baseball cap and dark brown sweatshirt with white lettering.
The driver had blond hair and was wearing a blue shirt. No further description was available.
The car was described as a dark brown minivan, possibly a Chevrolet, with a sliding passenger door and dents, the alert said. The rear windows were covered with vertical blinds.
Anyone with information should call Calumet Area detectives at (312) 747-8271.
