Visitation Set For Fallen Chicago Police Officer

Alejandro 'Alex' Valadez Was Gunned Down Early Monday

CHICAGO (CBS) ― Fallen Chicago Police Officer Alejandro "Alex" Valadez will receive his last respects Friday from his friends, family and partner.

Visitation for the 27-year-old officer will be held Friday afternoon at the Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, at 4727 W. 103rd St. in Oak Lawn.

Valadez was gunned down in a drive-by shooting just after midnight Monday, as he responded to a call in the 6000 block of South Hermitage Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood. He was in plain clothes at the time.

Shawn Gaston, 20, and Kevin Walker, 21, have been charged with Valadez's murder. Police say Gaston admitted to firing the shots that killed Valadez, while Walker admitted to driving the getaway car.

Funeral services for Valadez will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 8200 S. Kostner Ave.
