Police Officer Shot On South Side

Officer Suffers Non-Life-Threatening Injuries

CHICAGO (CBS) ― An off-duty Chicago Police officer was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries early Friday on the city's South Side.

The officer was confronted by a person with a gun around 3 a.m. at 82nd Street and Evans Avenue, police News Affairs said.

Shots were exchanged between them, and the officer was wounded in his leg and hand, police said.

He was hospitalized in serious condition at Stroger Hospital of Cook County.
