Police Shoot Man in South Side Chase

CHICAGO (STNG) ― Chicago Police shot a man running from police Sunday afternoon in the South Side's Back-of-the-Yards neighborhood.

Englewood District police tactical officers responded to a report of a man with a gun in the 5800 block of South Damen Avenue about 2:55 p.m. A chase ensued and police shot the man, police said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said.

Nobody else was injured.

A weapon was recovered, police said.

The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating.
