Police Shoot Man Near South Side CTA Station
Authorities: Teen refused to drop weapon
CHICAGO (AP) ―
Authorities say an 18-year-old man is injured following a police involved-shooting on Chicago's South Side.
Chicago police spokesman Hector Alfaro says the shooting happened before 11 p.m. Friday.
Police say plain clothes officers were working a narcotics investigation near the area when they responded to a call of shots fired.
Police say the teen allegedly fired at a group of men and refused to drop his weapon after police identified themselves. That's when an officer fired a shot at the teen's right thigh.
A Chicago Fire Department spokesman says the teen was taken to Stroger Hospital.
The Independent Police Review Authority has been notified of the shooting and will investigate.
