London-Bound Plane Diverted To Chicago

Pilot Reported An Electrical Problem

CHICAGO (CBS) ― An American Airlines jet had to interrupt its transatlantic flight and make an emergency landing at O'Hare International Airport late Thursday.

The American Airlines Boeing 767-300 plane landed at O'Hare Airport about 10 p.m. after the pilot reported an electrical problem, according to police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines.

The plane was en route to London's Heathrow Airport from Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport, Gaines said.

Firefighters sprayed the plane's breaks as a precaution, Gaines said.

Everyone made it off the plane safely.
