Sparks Bring Fire Crews To CTA Pink Line

Train Motor Sparks At Polk Street Station

CHICAGO (STNG) ― No injuries have been reported Thursday morning after sparks from a train motor prompted emergency crews to respond to a Near West Side CTA Pink Line station.

A still-and-box alarm and EMS Plan 1 were called about 8:25 a.m. to 1713 W. Polk St., according to Fire Media Affairs Cmdr. Will Knight.

The Polk Street address is the Pink Line Polk Station, which is located near the Rush University Medical Center campus.

Sparks from a train motor were seen on the tracks, Knight said, noting there was no fire.

No injuries were reported. The still-and-box alarm and the EMS Plan 1 were secured as of 8:37 a.m.

A CTA spokeswoman said the agency was aware of the situation but was unable to provide additional information, as of 8:35 a.m.
