Metra Train Strikes Car In Palatine

PALATINE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― A Metra train was caught behind schedule after striking a vehicle in the northwest suburbs Thursday morning.

Union Pacific Northwest Train No. 638, scheduled to arrive at Ogilvie Transportation Center at 10:23 a.m., reportedly struck a vehicle at Hicks Road in Palatine, according to Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile.

No injuries have been reported, according to a Palatine Fire Department spokeswoman.

The train, which initially stopped after the crash, eventually got moving, but ran 30-35 minutes behind schedule, according to a Metra alert.
