2 Hurt When Cab Crashes Into Wall At O'Hare

Victims Were Pinned Inside Vehicle

CHICAGO (CBS) ― A cab driver has been cited after crashing into a building at O'Hare InternationalĀ Airport on Friday morning, injuring two people in an upstairs office area.

About 9:40 a.m. Friday, the cab ran into a building containing a restaurant at O'Hare, according to police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.

A Checker Cab ran into a building that has a restaurant on the first floor and some type of office on the second floor, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado.

The restaurant was not damaged but two people inside the office area could not get out after the crash, because the door would not open and there was no other way out. Fire crews had to break a window and bring them out, Rosado said.

They were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in serious to critical condition, Rosado said.

The driver was given two citations, for driving an unsafe vehicle and for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to O'Brien, who did not have the cabbie's name immediately.
