Man Charged In Robbery Of North Side Shops
Sean Tribble Caught After Fleeing Lakeview Subway Shop
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
A 30-year-old man arrested after the robbery Friday of a sandwich shop on on the southwestern edge of the Lakeview neighborhood has been charged with the robberies of a half-dozen small shops, police said.
About 2:15 p.m Friday, a man with an unknown weapon -- possibly a knife oeanr gun -- robbed the Subway in the 2800 block of North Ashland Avenue, according to a release from Chicago Police.
He was apprehended by Belmont District officers as he was fleeing, then positively identified by victims. No weapon was recovered.
Aware of previous robberies of small retailers in the Belmont and Lincoln districts, detectives began to look into a possible connection, the release said.
After reviewing similar cases, additional victims and witnesses were brought in to the Belmont Detective Division and the offender was positively identified in a lineup.
Sean Tribble, 30, of the 2100 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, was charged with five counts of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of aggravated robbery, the release said.
Tribble was ordered held without bond on Sunday, the release said.
The Belmont District is bounded by Lawrence Avenue, Clark Street, Fullerton Avenue and the Chicago River's North Branch, while the Lincoln District is bounded by Lawrence, the lake, Peterson Avenue, and the North Branch and North Shore Channel. Specific names and addresses of the other businesses Tribble allegedly robbed were not included in the release.
