'North Side Rapist' Gets 90 More Years In Prison

CHICAGO (STNG) ― Mario Villa -- the so-called "North Side rapist" -- was sentenced Thursday to 90 years in prison for raping a 16-year-old girl, bringing his total sentence to 190 years for convictions on two of six rapes for which he is charged.

Villa, 41, is already serving a 100-year sentence after being convicted in the first sexual assault case, according to Andy Conklin, spokesman for the Cook County State's Attorney's office.

On July 2, a Cook County jury convicted Villa of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault for raping the 16-year-old girl in her Lincoln Park home on July 30, 1999.

Thursday, Judge Dennis Porter sentenced him to an additional 90 years in prison on those charges, Conklin said, noting that the two sentences must be served consecutively.

In March, Villa was sentenced to 100 years for the rape of a Lincoln Park woman in February 2004.

Villa has been charged in a total six rape cases, from 1999 to 2004, that followed a pattern: He would sneak in through an open window or door while his victim slept. He then allegedly raped the woman and made her take a shower, prosecutors say.

In all, Villa was charged in six separate sexual assaults.

He will be sentenced in the third case by Judge Lawrence Flood on Sept. 4, Conklin said.
