Northside College Prep, Lincoln Park Make The Cut
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
Some Chicago area schools made the cut for the new list of the nation's top public high schools in Newsweek Magazine.
A total of 47 Illinois schools, all but one of which were in the Chicago area, made the Newsweek list of the 1,500 best schools.
At the top, Northside College Prep, 5501 N. Kedzie Ave., came in at No. 57; Lincoln Park High School, 2001 N. Orchard St., ranked at No. 107; Riverside-Brookfield High School, 160 Ridgewood Rd. in Riverside, ranked No. 139; Stevenson High School, 1 Stevenson Dr. in Lincolnshire, was No. 149; and Hinsdale Central, 5500 Grant St. in Hinsdale, ranked No. 276.

Newsweek also compiled a list of schools deemed too elite for their top public high schools list. Illinois Math and Science Academy the state-run boarding school in Aurora and University Laboratory in downstate Urbana, both made that list.
