Tiny Puppy Stolen From Naperville Pet Store

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (STNG) ― A hunt on is on in the western suburbs after a 2-month-old Pomeranian was stolen from a pet store Friday morning.

About 11:40 a.m. Friday, the puppy was stolen from the Petland store at 720 S. Rt. 59 in Naperville, according to a release from HelpMeFindMyPet.com. According to store personnel, a young man came into the store and asked to see the puppy, then placed it under his sweatshirt and fled the store.

The man, who was caught on the store's surveillance video, is described as a white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, the release said. The video was turned over to Naperville police, who are investigating, and the theft was reported to the online "amber alert" service for pets.

The puppy, which has a microchip embedded between his shoulders, is described as a male weighing less than 2 pounds with long red sable hair, the release said. Petland officials are concerned because being so young and small, the puppy could die if not properly taken care of.
