Teens Sentenced In 2006 MySpace Rape
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
Two teens were sentenced to two years sex offender probation Monday after they admitted to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl they met on MySpace in 2006.
Tony Pacheco and Angel Alverio both pleaded guilty Monday to one count each of aggravated battery and criminal sexual abuse, according to Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin. In addition to the 24 month probation sentence, a Cook County judge also ruled that Pacheco and Alverio will both have to register as sex offenders for the next 10 years.
Prosecutors said Pacheco, then 17, Alverio, then 18, and a third teen, then 15, made contact with the girl through MySpace, a social networking Web site, and arranged a July 24, 2006 meeting. The teens then took her to one of their homes in the 4800 block of West Walton where they drank alcohol. The girl became sick and then was sexually assaulted by the three teens multiple times.
The youngest suspect charged in the crime, who is now 17, was sentenced to five years probation in May after pleading guilty to one count of criminal sexual assault, according to the state's attorney's office.
