1 Dead, 1 Injured In Morton Grove Crash
MORTON GROVE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
The death of an Evanston man who was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning near north suburban Morton Grove has been ruled an accident.
A Thursday autopsy said Darryl Ransom, 46, of 2117 Emerson St. in Evanston died of multiple injuries from an automobile accident. He was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge at 11:10 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The accident happened about 10:30 a.m. about a mile west of Harms Road on Golf Road, according to Cook County Sheriff's police spokeswoman Lisa Gordon.
The driver of a car was traveling west when he crossed the center line and struck another vehicle, according to Gordon, who said the collision was not head-on but damaged the left fronts of both cars.
Ransom, the driver of the first car, was extricated by fire crews and taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Gordon said.
The driver of the second vehicle was also taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where they were listed in "stable" condition, Gordon said.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation and Gordon could not confirm whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
Cook County Sheriff's police are investigating.
