Family Searching For Missing Mother

60-Year-Old Betty Williams Has Been Missing Since Tuesday

CHICAGO HEIGHTS (CBS) ― A southwest suburban family's Thanksgiving weekend has been plunged into anguish and fear. Their mother has disappeared and police say they have no real clues as to her whereabouts. CBS2's Mike Parker reports.

The woman is 60 year old Betty Williams. She's been battling a number of health problems for years, including a heart condition and arthritis. As of Friday afternoon, her whereabouts were a mystery.

"It's almost like she's disappeared into thin air," says her daughter Kyla Williams. "There's really no trace of her."

Betty Williams of Chicago Heights, a mother of three grown children, has not been seen since about 2 p.m. on Wednesday, when her brother had dropped her off at Stroger Hospital.

The plan was for the woman to get some prescription medications then take a taxi to her sister's home in Maywood. She never went there, and did not go to her home either. She had no more than $30 in her purse.

"We had no Thanksgiving," says daughter Kyla. "The whole family was just on the phone. We've been calling shelters, we've been calling all the local hospitals, anyplace we thought she could have been."

Betty Williams is a light skinned African American, 4'10", 150 pounds. She has black hair with blonde highlights. Her daughter has a message for anyone who knows where she is.

"There's no judgment here," says Kyla. "I'm a forgiving person. I believe in God. I believe all things work out for the best so I'm asking and begging … get in contact … so that we can get to her and make sure that she's okay."

If you have information, call either Chicago or Chicago Heights Police or call 911.
