Middle School Boy Accused Of Abusing Classmate

Boy Charged As Juvenile With Misdemeanor Criminal Sexual Abuse

CHICAGO (STNG) ― A 14-year-old boy is accused of inappropriately touching a female classmate in a bathroom of a South Side school.

The incident took place Wednesday after classes had ended at James N. Thorp Elementary School, 8914 S. Buffalo Ave., according to police and Chicago Public Schools officials.

The girl, 13, told her parents about the incident, and they contacted police, the girl's father said.

The boy is charged as a juvenile with misdemeanor criminal sexual abuse, police said. He has been suspended for 10 days and referred for expulsion, said CPS spokesman Mike Vaughn.

The girl, a special needs student, is supposed to be under supervision at all times, her father said.

"My concern is my daughter, and where do I go from here,'' he said.

Police are also investigating another alleged sexual assault that may have occurred the same day at Chicago International Charter School's Basil Campus, 1816 W. Garfield. Officials there confirmed that two elementary students may have assaulted a classmate.
