Police Probe Video From Day Of Scott's Death
Michael Scott Is Seen Alone In Car
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
Chicago Police are examining video which appears to show deceased Chicago School Board President Michael Scott alone in his car the day he died.
The video is from newly-installed surveillance cameras on Lower Wacker Drive across the river from where Scott's body was found. They appear to show Scott driving around, then parking his late-model Cadillac early Sunday night.
Scott's body was found early in the morning Nov. 16 near the Apparel Center at 360 N. Orleans St., close to the edge of the Chicago River.
Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis said a .380-caliber handgun was found underneath or near Scott's body. The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is tracing the history of that handgun and will turn over their findings to Chicago police.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said an autopsy ruled that Scott's death was a suicide, the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. But Weis said after the autopsy it was too early for police to draw conclusions.
The latest footage may rule out anyone else being involved.
