Fire Breaks Out In House Near Belmont, Kennedy

House On Melrose Street Goes Up In Flames

CHICAGO (CBS) ― A fire broke out early Friday at a house near Belmont Avenue and the Kennedy Expressway.

The fire started in the early morning hours in a wood frame house in the 3400 block of West Melrose Street, just west of Kimball Avenue and close to the Kennedy entry and exit ramp to Kimball and Belmont.

Police shut down Kimball Avenue and Belmont, but police were preparing to reopen the street by shortly after 5:30 a.m.

Information about injuries or damage was not immediately available.
