A Chicago man was ordered held without bail Sunday in the rifle slaying last week of another Chicago man.
Marcus Pryor, 18, of the 8300 block of South Yates Boulevard appeared in bond court Sunday on first-degree murder charges in the Friday death of Diego Manriquez, 23, of the 4700 block of South Wood Street.
Pryor was a passenger in a van riding through the Back of the Yards neighborhood when he exited the van's sliding passenger door and approached Manriquez, who was walking east in the 1500 block of West 48th Street, said Cook County Assistant State's Atty. Risa Lanier.
Pryor fired a rifle at Manriquez, shooting him in the head, back and foot, then got back in the van and drove down an alley, Lanier said. When an ambulance arrived, Manriquez had no vital signs, Lanier said.
Witnesses walking behind Manriquez and two witnesses playing softball at a nearby elementary school saw the shooting, she said.
Manriguez, 23, of 4748 S. Wood St., was pronounced dead on the scene of the shooting at 8:35 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
An autopsy determined Manriguez died from multiple gunshot wounds.
