Man Convicted Of Slashing Woman Near Metra Station
MARKHAM, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A Chicago man was found guilty Wednesday of slashing the throat of a woman with a hunting knife as she walked near a Metra station in south suburban Blue Island in 2005.
Vincent Glover, 38, was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder after a bench trial before Cook County Judge Luciano Panici, according to the Cook County State's Attorney's office.
The victim, 23 at the time, received numerous stitches to her throat and hand as a result of the attack.
According to prosecutors, she was walking near the train station at Vermont Street in Blue Island on Sept. 25, 2006, when Glover came up behind her, put a knife to her neck and cut her throat.
Glover and the woman struggled, and he tried to flee before two witnesses intervened and were able to detain him for police, the release said. Police recovered a backpack he was carrying which contained the knife, mask, plastic bags and electrical tape.
A hearing on post-trial motions is set for Dec. 3. Glover faces up to 30 years in prison.
