1 Dead, 1 Critical In Uptown Shooting

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― One man was fatally shot and another suffered a gunshot wound to the chest Friday afternoon in the North Side's Uptown neighborhood.

Two men in their 20s were standing on the sidewalk in the 4800 block of North Sheridan Road at 3:22 p.m. when an unknown person approached them and fired multiple shots, according to police News Affairs.

One man was dead on the scene with a gunshot wound to his head and the other was hospitalized in serious condition with a gunshot wound to his chest, police said.

The shooter fled in an unknown direction.

Timothy Pittman was pronounced dead at the scene at 6 p.m., according to a Cook County Medical Examiner's office spokeswoman, who said Pittman's age and home address was not available Saturday morning.

Pittman was said to be in his 20s, according to police.

The Fire Department responded at 3:22 p.m. to 4821 N. Sheridan Rd. where crews found one person dead on the scene. Another shooting victim was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, according to Fire Media Affairs Asst. Director Eve Rodriguez.

Police had no offender information Saturday morning and said no one is in custody for the shooting.

Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
